Volkswagen Czech Republic unit Škoda Auto has claimed its highest-ever one-month-sales figures for March 2007 and record sales for the first quarter of this year.
The unit sold 60,665 vehicles in March 2007, up 14.8% year on year. Q1 sales of 149,926 units were up 15.5%.
Škoda is launching its redesigned entry-level Fabia line in Europe following its debut at the Geneva motor show last month. The vehicle is now on sale in the Czech Republic and Germany, with other countries to follow soon.
Škoda Auto sales in western Europe have grown 14.7% so far this year and by 7.8% and 50.4% in central and eastern Europe, respectively.
Overseas/Africa region sales were up 1.1% to 10,874 in the quarter.
