The Czech Republic’s car importers’ association has said that falling demand for company cars has helped to push new registrations down by a year-on-year 16.4% in the first three months of the year.

“We expect that delayed purchases of company cars will start to pick up again in April,” the association’s general secretaryPavel Tunkl told Reuters, adding that falling car prices could also boost passenger car sales.

Among passenger cars, Volkswagen’s Skoda Auto is market leader, followed by Ford and Renault .

However, the country’s largest exporter, Skoda, increased output last month following rising orders  from Germany due to a scrappage incentive that has boosted the market – sales in March were 40% up on last year.
