Cooper Standard has opened its new Japan headquarters and engineering centre in Yokohama.

Relocated from its previous location in Osaki, the 5,400-square-foot (502.5-square-meters) facility currently employs 14 people and offers full-service product development and engineering to support Japanese automakers.

“The opening of our new Yokohama facility expands Cooper Standard’s network of global technology centres with broader capabilities to support our customers in this important automotive market,” said Cooper Standard CEO and chairman, Jeffrey Edwards.

“Notably, the facility will enhance on-site product development, as well as accelerate the localisation of our latest innovations, such as our Fortrex material.”

The facility is equipped to serve Japanese automakers such as Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Suzuki and Toyota and offers room for additional staff and equipment.

The facility is equipped with design and testing capabilities, including CAD and 2D CAE designers, 3D printing and material testing equipment for Cooper Standard’s core product lines.
