Volkswagen on Wednesday said it sold 24.6% more vehicles in mainland China and Hong Kong in the first half than a year earlier.


The VW group moved a record 431,369 vehicles during the period, compared with 346,263 vehicles a year ago, the company told the Reuters news agency.


Sales of Volkswagen brand vehicles increased 23.7% to 379,705 units in the half-year, including imported models, while sales of the Audi brand rose 26.9% to 49,267 units, it reportedly said.


Skoda sold 2,274 cars, while sales of the Octavia, introduced at the beginning of June, totalled 2,066 units.


Winfried Vahland, president and CEO of Volkswagen China, told Reuters he expected the Magotan sedan to be rolled out soon in China, giving a further boost to sales.
