Toyota plans to sell 1.6-1.8m cars a year in China in 2015, double its 2011 volume.

The automaker wants to sell 1m cars there this year, up 13.3% year on year, Reuters reported.

Toyota manufactures cars locally in joint ventures with Guangzhou Automobile and FAW.

It plans to use locally built powertrains in its hybrids to meet its sales target. The engines in its locally assembled Camry and Prius hybrids currently are imported from Japan.
