Sichuan Auto Industry Group has said that it has no interest in buying GM’s up-for-sale Hummer unit.
Recent media reports have said that it is in talks with GM and could pay up to US$500m for the unit.
“It’s a complete rumour. We have never had discussions with GM, nor are we interested in Hummer,” a Sichuan Group executive told Reuters.
Other Chinese companies have been rumoured to be interested in Detroit’s up-for-sale brands, including Ford’s Volvo Cars.
Mahindra & Mahindra was also recently reported to be interested in Hummer – but the company denied that it was.
