Hyundai Motor Co., alongside its subsidiary Kia Motors, is set to establish a
headquarters in Beijing on December 1 to cover both the Chinese – which includes
Hong Kong – and Taiwanese markets, say Asian news sources (30/11/00).
According to the report, Vice President Cha Jung-Sik is to be in charge of
the operation which has the responsibility for both production and marketing
within the Chinese territories. This HQ will be set up as a separate division
from the overseas operations headquarters, thus having autonomous power.
The production and sale of minicars, recreational vehicles, passenger cars,
vans and buses will be the focus of Hyundai-Kia. The development of a solid
after sales network is one of the company`s briefs alongside expanding existing
production capacity and completing negotiations for a new commercial vehicle
site, says the report.
