Striking workers at a parts maker supplying Honda’s car plant in southern China agreed to return to work yesterday (13 June, 2010) ending the latest in a series of strikes over wages and conditions.

The strike at Honda Lock (Guangdong) began last week but the company gave no details of any settlement at the plant which supplies exhaust parts for Honda’s Accord, Fit [Jazz] and Odyssey.

Workers walked out demanding pay increases after hearing salaries were raised to end a strike at Foshan Fengfu Autoparts, another Honda parts plant.

Employees at Honda Lock were demanding a 72% increase to their CNY1,600 (US$234) a month wages and higher overtime payments.

About 1,200 of the 1,400 workers at the lock factory in Zhongshan walked out on Thursday last week.
