FAW Toyota, a joint venture between Toyota and FAW Group, has announced a goal of selling 380,000 units in 2009, a total that would be 8% up on 2008.
Xinhua reported that the company’s general manager, Mori Satoru, predicted that auto sales in China would remain sluggish in the first half of 2009, but will gradually revive in the second half year.
If the Chinese government further launches supportive measures for boosting the auto industry, the company’s annual sales goal would raise accordingly, Mori Satoru added.
FAW Toyota plans to unveil its new RAV4 mini SUV in spring, planning for 50,000 unit sales for the year.
The company sold 350,000 vehicles in 2008.
