DaimlerChrysler Canada today reported October deliveries of 18,603 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles — about the same as the 18,775 vehicles sold in the same month one year earlier.
The company’s retailers across Canada sold 231,019 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles in the first ten months of this year, an increase of 5.9 per cent over the 218,170 vehicles they sold in the January-through-October period of 1999.
DaimlerChrysler’s dealers delivered 13,008 Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler trucks in October — an increase of 1.0 per cent over the 12,882 sold in the same month last year. Year-to-date deliveries of 162,101 trucks were 8.2 per cent higher than the 149,824 sold in the corresponding period last year.

By GlobalDataSales of 1,168 Dodge Dakota pickup trucks set a record for the month — up 5.1 per cent over the previous record 1,111 Dakota pickups sold in October, 1997. Combined October deliveries of 3,504 Dodge and Jeep sport utility vehicles also set a record for the month.
“In addition to the milestone delivery of our one millionth minivan in Canada on October 12, DaimlerChrysler Canada’s October sales included accelerating deliveries of DaimlerChrysler’s all-new 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans,” R. M. (Larry) Latta, Vice President — Sales and Service, stated.
“Chrysler PT Cruiser sales were also up over September, and our all-new 2001 Chrysler Sebring sedans and coupes are gaining sales momentum,” Mr. Latta said.
October deliveries of 5,595 passenger cars compared with the 5,893 sold in the same month one year earlier. January-through-October deliveries of 68,918 cars were off slightly from the 68,346 delivered in the first ten months of 1999.
Chrysler brand sales of 7,404 units in October increased 25.2 per cent over the 5,993 sold in the same month last year, while Dodge brand sales of 129,498 were 13.0 per cent higher than the 114,631 sold in October, 1999.

DaimlerChrysler Canada’s consolidated October sales totaled 20,357 compared with the 20,849 vehicles sold in the corresponding month one year earlier.
