The production version of the C300 project – the next Korando – has been revealed in South Korea. The public world premiere will be at next month’s Geneva motor show.
The new Korando will become available in SsangYong’s home market during July with series production due to commence at the Pyongtaek plant in June. Europe-wide deliveries will follow from the third quarter.
This model, which will take on the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson in South Korea and many other countries, looks like the SIV-2, a concept from March 2016’s Geneva motor show. In European markets, the engines will be turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel units.
There will also be an electric SUV, to be based on the Korando. Its development code is E100.
