Once active, the site will manufacture and assemble full seating systems for the upcoming Scout Traveler SUV and Scout Terra pickup truck.
Brose Sitech Columbia executive vice president Juan-Carlos Kieler said: “Establishing our first manufacturing location in the US is an important milestone for Brose Sitech.
“The US is a significant automotive market with considerable potential for future growth. With our new production facility in Blythewood, we are bringing our expertise in complete seating systems closer to our customer while laying the foundation for Brose Sitech’s long-term development in North America.”
Positioning the facility within the dedicated supplier park allows the firm to implement a just-in-time delivery model, streamline logistics, and coordinate directly with vehicle assembly operations.
The investment establishes the company’s production workforce in the US, with plans to generate nearly 330 production and support roles as operations ramp up.
The Blythewood plant expands the supplier’s North American operational footprint and will function alongside its existing corporate base in the Detroit metropolitan area.
That office will continue to oversee regional sales, engineering, programme management, purchasing, finance, and human resources.
Headquartered in Polkowice, Poland, Brose Sitech operates as an independent joint venture between Volkswagen and Brose.
Operating across 22 locations worldwide with more than 8,000 employees, the supplier provides automotive original equipment manufacturers with complete seating systems, seat structures, and interior components.
Scout Motors president and CEO Scott Keogh added: “This announcement represents the beginning of that promise being fulfilled. We’re proud to partner with Brose Sitech to create more opportunities for South Carolina communities and further strengthen the local automotive supply chain.
