CAOA plans to import five Great Wall models for sale from the second half of 2012. The model line is expected to include the Hover sports utility vehicle, local reports said.

The CAOA group has already started recruiting dealers. Some showrooms will be shared with Hyundai.

Last month, Bloomberg News reported Great Wall had decided to build a factory in Brazil but the automaker’s chairman Wang Fengying did not give the news agency any other details with regards to investment.

The report said the automaker was building the factory in Brazil in order to overcome the recent government decision to raise industrialised products taxes (IPI) on vehicles that do not contain at least 65% of Brazilian made parts.

Great Wall specialises in pickup trucks and already exports left- and right-hand-drive vehicles to global markets including Australia and the Middle East. UK sales are expected to start through IM Group in 2012.
