Ford Brazil is offering a buyout programme for its local employees, according to Estado newswire.
The company is taking this step because of decline in exports.
The automaker is the first company in the country to offer this programme for its employees in order to downsize.
Brazilian automakers had been sending employees on compulsory vacations while Renault recently recalled about 500 furloughed workers.
