The supervisory board of Borgward Group has named Philip Koehn CEO from 1 July though the former Rolls-Royce cars head of development will continue to head the Stuttgart based automaker's R&D as a member of the executive board.
He replaces Ulrich Walker who has headed the revived brand since April 2015. Beiqi Foton Motor (a subsidiary of BAIC) holds a stake and manufactures the SUVs sold since 2017.
"Borgward is entering into the next phase of its resurrection. As we enter into this new phase, we are making a change in leadership as planned," said supervisory board chairman Christian Borgward.
"Walker has shaped Borgward decisively over the past three years and has created a solid foundation for the brand to re-establish itself in the automotive industry."
This included establishment of the structures of Borgward Group AG and market launches in China, south east Asia, the Middle East, South America and now in Germany.
Walker will remain with the company as an advisor until the end of the year.
