Andreas Mindt, currently director of Bentley Design, will head up VW brand design from 1 February, 2023. He replaces Jozef Kaban who was named creative art director VW and will report directly to the technical development chief.

As part of his new role with the group future center Europe in Potsdam, Kaban will “develop forward-looking mobility solutions for the Volkswagen brand”.

Mindt started with the group in 1996 after graduating with a degree from the Pforzheim University School of Design.

He headed Bentley Design from 2021.

Kaban started at Volkswagen Design in 1993 and has headed Audi exterior design and Skoda design.

He returned to the VW brand in 2020 as chief designer.

Bentley in turn named Tobias Suehlmann as the new director of design, replacing Mindt.

He was head of exterior design at Bentley, having joined the luxury brand in October 2021. In 20 years he has held senior design positions at McLaren, Aston Martin, Bugatti and Volkswagen’s Potsdam Design Centre which he joined in 2005 before moving to Volkswagen Design in Wolfsburg in 2007.
