Toyota Motor Europe (TME) is to spend EUR26.7m relocating its parts centre in Spain (TPCES) to a newly constructed, larger facility scheduled for completion in 2010.

The new premises, with 16,800 m2 of building space, will improve delivery of parts and accessories across Spain in line with sales growth, TME said in a statement.
It has bought 47,500 m2 of land in Illescas (Toledo), south of Madrid, for the relocation. TPCES is currently based in San Agustín de Guadalix, around 90km north of Illescas. Construction begins in 2009.
“The new site and larger premises will help us satisfy the growing number of customers in Spain by ensuring on-time availability of vehicle parts and accessories’ said TME president/CEO Tadashi Arashima. “Employees can also look forward to a modernised working environment – boosting productivity and strengthening team performance.”
The new warehouse will use ‘green’ measures such as waste recycling and rainwater recapture and re-use, and the use of renewable energy sources for improved energy efficiency is under study.
TPCES currently employs 34 and distributes to around 100 Toyota and Lexus dealers in Spain. The facility is one of 14 across Europe.
In 2007, Toyota sold 81,677 vehicles in Spain – up 4% on 2006. The Spanish market overall declined 1.7% according to European automakers group ACEA.
