Kia’s Australian unit is now offering a seven-year new car warranty similar to that offered in the UK.

The automaker said it was Australia’s first comprehensive unlimited kilometre seven year warranty coupled to a seven year capped-price service programme and seven year roadside assist.

“This is a watershed moment in customer care,” Kia Motor Australia chief operating officer, Damien Meredith, said. “Kia customers now have a peace of mind that can’t be matched in the Australian new car market.

“The two year increase in warranty, capped-price servicing and roadside assist is absolutely transparent and we will not be asking our customers to dip into their pockets to fund the extra benefits.”

Meredith said the additional warranty and service benefits would be fully transferable to subsequent owners, subject to conditions.

Current owners with the five year capped-price programme will be automatically upgraded to the new seven year plan.

The first year’s roadside assist will be automatic with the purchase of the vehicle and will be renewed at no cost with each annual service by an authorised dealer.
