Order books for the second model from Chinese brand Aion – the UT – will open in the UK September, before first customer deliveries of the new hatchback start in October.

That will take GAC-owned Aion to two model ranges in the British market – the B-segment UT and the larger V SUV.
Aion claims the UT’s 60kWh battery provides 268 miles of range, the ‘longest standard range in its class’, and is capable of charging from 30-80% in just 24 minutes.
A 204PS motor delivers 0-62 mph in 7.3 seconds, the company says.
The UT is available in five colours, with its ‘playful, distinctive face brought to life by owl-inspired headlights’ and a 2×2 ‘ice cube’ indicator and DRL cluster.
Its interior is characterised by a ‘raft of standard features usually reserved for higher segments, including heated front seats, 14.6” central touch screen and 360° surround-view camera’.
The single trim level can be enhanced with an optional Premium Pack that adds a panoramic glass roof, powered tailgate, ventilated driver’s seat and wireless phone charging.

Aion says the Europe-designed UT has also been engineered for UK roads, ‘going beyond the work already undertaken on the Aion V earlier this year”. As well as modifications to the springs, dampers, bump-stops and calibration, the UT also gets a revised anti-roll bar.
