The US’s auto industry registered an 8.9% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.69% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the auto industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.57% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.44% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s auto industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.69% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry in October 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 46.65% in October 2022, registering a 31.39% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 23.85% share, a decrease of 26.8% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 11.08%, registering a 3.01% rise from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 9.14%, down 2.59% over the previous month.

Top five auto companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 29.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s auto industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Dana posted 281 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 41.09% over the previous month, followed by Tesla with 94 jobs and a 17.54% drop. PACCAR with 57 IT jobs and General Motors with 54 jobs, recorded a 13.64% decline and a 17.39% growth, respectively, while Ford Motor recorded a decline of 5.45% with 52 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.33%, down by 25.29% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.28% share, registered a decline of 26.53% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.15% share, down 32.43% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.24%, recording a month-on-month increase of 200%.
