Model year for North American markets in parentheses

Acura NSX: multiple updates for the 2019 model year but no styling changes

Audi PB18 e-tron: “Design study for a puristic [sic] sports car of the future” says the official press release. Styled at Audi’s Design Loft in Malibu. Roof-mounted cameras instead of door mirrors as a link to both the e-tron electric SUV and the Avus concept from 1991. The single seat can be moved from left to centre to right to suit the preference of the driver on different racing tracks. Interestingly, it has no automation. A solid state battery gives a WLTP range of up to 500km, 0-100km/h is claimed to be “just over 2.0 seconds”. The body is that of a shooting brake rather than a conventional supercar.

Bentley Mulsanne W.O. Edition (2019): the marque’s largest, most expensive sedan has been in production since 2009 and likely to have a successor in 2019. So to lift interest in this model, Bentley is building 100 cars, each fitted with a tiny piece of the crankshaft from an 8 Litre car owned by Walter Owen Bentley himself.

BMW Z4 (2019): in contrast to the previous E89 series Z4, G29 has a fabric roof; a concept was revealed at the previous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2017; Magna Steyr will build it; no official news as yet on where and when Toyota will first exhibit the Supra.

Bugatti Divo: modified Chiron with the loss of 35kg, 40 cars will be built, each one costing €5 million, top speed claimed to be 380km/h.

Ferrari 488 Pista Spider: 530kW (720cv) 3,902cc V8 with a torque output of 770Nm, follows the debut of the 488 Pista at the Geneva motor show in March.

Infiniti Prototype 10 concept: electrified speedster and a far more modern take than last year’s Prototype 9.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ: the Super Veloce Jota is powered by a 770PS version of the Aventador’s usual 6.5-litre V12.

Mercedes-Benz Vision EQ Silver Arrow show car: originally announced as the Aesthetics Progressive Luxury concept. Mercedes-Benz USA instead calls it the ES Silver Arrow show car (no Vision). Single seat futuristic racer and the inevitable response to Infiniti revealing its own take on the Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz racers from the long-ago past at the 2017 Concours.

Pininfarina Automobili PF0 (2021): the Munich-based start-up is funded by Pininfarina and its parent Mahindra. It will “offer a range of extremely luxurious and high-performance EV cars designed and built in a close partnership with Pininfarina SpA”. The first of those is codenamed PF0 and will be an ultra-low volume, ultra-luxurious fully-electric hypercar. The first cars will be delivered to owners “in less than two years”.
