A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11926205B2) discloses a connection rod seal designed to seal the interface between a connection rod and a motor cover of an electric motor. The connection rod seal comprises a body with a through hole to accommodate the connection rod, a radial seal to form a seal with the connection rod, and a face seal at the bottom surface of the body to seal with the outer surface of the motor cover. The design includes a hollow protrusion extending from the bottom surface, radial and face slots for the seals, and is made of a non-conductive material to act as a dielectric between the connection rod and the motor cover.

Furthermore, the patent also covers an electric axle and a vehicle incorporating the connection rod seal. The electric axle includes an electric motor with a motor cover, an inverter, and the connection rod seal to electrically connect the motor stator to the inverter. The vehicle, in addition to the electric axle, includes a vehicle body, wheels driven by the electric axle, and features like a hollow protrusion, internally-threaded bore for fastening, and the use of non-conductive material for the body of the connection rod seal. The design ensures effective sealing and electrical insulation between components, enhancing the performance and safety of the electric motor and vehicle.
