Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 19%, emerged as the top cybersecurity-related job roles within the automotive industry in Q1 2024, with new job postings drop by 10% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q1 2024, with new job postings dropping by 8% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent cybersecurity roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with an 8% share in Q1 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in automotive industry accounted for 60% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2024 were AB Volvo, Robert Bosch, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, Magna International, and Plastal. Together they accounted for a combined share of 60% of all cybersecurity-related new jobs in the automotive industry.
AB Volvo posted 1,525 cybersecurity-related new jobs in Q1 2024, Robert Bosch 451 jobs, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group 358 jobs, Magna International 294 jobs, and Plastal 255 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 28.64% share of total new job postings, Q1 2024
The largest share of cybersecurity-related new job postings in the automotive industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 28.64% followed by Germany (12.13%) and Sweden (11.25%). The share represented by the US was seven percentage points higher than the 22.02% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
