The Paris show, of course, was the big event this week and just-auto was there in force.

All our coverage is gift wrapped here but I commend to you in particular our three interviews with top Ford executives and our comprehensive list of world debuts made in the city this week.

Elsewhere, I popped up to the outskirts of Brum (Birmingham) early in the week, where Land Rovers are made, to see where axles and corner modules for Land Rovers, Range Rovers and the odd four wheel drive Jaguar are made in an intriguing ZF plant which assembles and line sequences the components and delivers them to the vehicle plant about every 15 minutes. I would not like to be the bloke in charge of logistics, especially during one of the infamous local motorway jams when everyone takes to the side streets (they have that covered, they assured me).

The row between the EU and Germany over auto air conditioner refrigerants continues to rumble on and we had an update this week.

GM’s Opel/Vauxhall units in UK and Europe issued a rare ‘don’t drive’ order for about 8,000 Adam and Corsa models with Vauxhall engaging its roadside assist company to help owners here in the UK determine if cars were affected and arranging trucking to dealers for repair and loan cars if necessary.

Ford also announced a large recall in the US as did GM.

Meanwhile, Our Man in Brazil reported on local speculation about with which model Jaguar Land Rover will kick off production at its new plant there in 2016 and that Volvo, whose full-import quota is limited to 3,000 vehicles, might also be about to take the plunge into local build. A rumour that, in an email to us, the company very quickly denied.

Have a nice weekend.
