Ford faces challenges in the Asia Pacific region where its long-term model-sharing partnership with former affiliate Mazda was ended some years ago and local manufacturing in Australia ended late last year.
Its Thai-built Ranger pickup was fourth top selling vehicle in Australia in February behind the Toyota Corolla and Hilux and Mazda 3.
Toyota was the leading brand in that market in February with an 18.3% share of the total industry, followed by Mazda (11.1%), Hyundai (7.9%), Mitsubishi (6.5%), and General Motors' Holden (6.4%).
