UK commercial vehicle (CV) manufacturing grew by a quarter in November 2015 as the sector’s recovery continued. Big gains were made in export production with volumes up 79.1% in the month. According to the SMMT, production of vans and trucks rose 24.6% year on year to 8,813 units last month.

Production for export grew a huge 79.1% to 5,131 following growing demand in Europe while output for the UK fell 12.5% to 3,682. Year to date, domestic market production was up 34% to 44,292 with export model output up 37.3% to 43,922. Overall sector output rose 35.6% to 88,214 in the first 11 months of the year.

SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said: “The recovery in UK CV manufacturing this year has been good to see, with consistently strong growth in almost every month.
