Hyundai Motor America will pay a US$17.35m fine to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) because it delayed the eventual 2013 recall of 43,500 2009-2012 Genesis sedans.

Hyundai first issued a technical service bulletin to dealers ordering brake fluid replacement but eventually conducted a safety recall following an NHTSA investigation. The defect did not cause any fatalities or serious injuries, Hyundai said.
