New vehicle sales in Malaysia fell by 12.9% to 51,823 units in August, from 58,382 units a year earlier, according to data released by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).
The association blamed the decline on fewer working days due to the Hari Raya holidays falling in August this year.

Sales of passenger cars fell by 13.1% to 45,687 units, from 52,559 units last year, while sales of commercial vehicles rose by 5.4% to 6,136 units.
Cumulative sales for the first eight months of the year rose by 1.7% to 412,575 units, from 405,837 units.
