The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on its website that corrosion could lead to a short circuit, which in turn could cause battery problems, difficulty in starting the engine, and stalling.

Chrysler received nine reports of stalling, but none of accidents or injuries.

Most of the recalled vehicles were sold in the US and a Chrysler UK spokeswoman could not say immediately if the recall affects right-hand drive cars sold here or the left-hookers exported to Europe and elsewhere.

In the US, Chrysler will, beginning in mid-April, re-seal the monitors or replace them free of charge.
