US engine manufacturer Cummins Inc has acquired full ownership of Hydrogenics Corporation, buying out Air Liquide’s 19% stake.
Cummins took a controlling stake in Hydrogenics in 2019, adding key fuel cell and electrolyser technologies to its portfolio. Hydrogenics sits under Cummins’ ‘Electrified Power Business Segment’.
Hyrdogenics specialises in fuel cell and hydrogen production technologies.
Cummins started developing its fuel cell capabilities more than 20 years ago, and its acquisition of Hydogenics has enabled it to scale hydrogen fuel cells across a range of commercial markets, it says.
When the acquisition was first announced, Tom Linebarger, Chairman and CEO of Cummins said: “This is another step forward as we continue to invest in a broad range of clean, fuel-efficient and high-performing products and technologies that deliver value to our customers.”
