Hyundai Motor Group has opened a new driving centre in South Korea to offer customers the opportunity to test drive vehicles under extreme driving conditions.

The HMG Driving Experience Center is located inside the new Hankook Tire & Technology Company proving ground in Taean, on the west coast.

HMG’s main tyre supplier completed construction of its KRW230bn (US$166m) Hankook Technoring in May to meet rising demand for high-end products for next-generation vehicles. It is said to be Asia’s longest tyre proving ground, covering 1.26 million square meters and with 13 separate test tracks designed to test the performance of anything from electric vehicle (EVs) and high-performance cars.

Hyundai and Kia customers will be able to experience eight different driving courses at the facility, including high speed braking, fast acceleration, drifting, slalom, off road and high speed driving at up to 250km/h.

Hankook is South Korea’s largest tyre manufacturer with a global production capacity of 100 million tyres per year, which is expected to rise to 150 million by the end of the decade.
