Sitting in the demo car at Huawei’s Shanghai Acoustics R&D Centre, I was able to experience HUAWEI SOUND ULTIMATE Series first-hand, from the VIP seat of a Maextro S800, an ultra-luxury sedan. While my colleagues sweltered in the 40°C heat outside, I was cool and comfortable as my in-car guide ran through a selection of music – from rap to classical – which delivered an immersive showcase of surround sound. My guide informed me that HUAWEI SOUND ULTIMATE Series delivers a unique in-cabin experience for every user, and I can certainly vouch for not only the superior sound, but its superb clarity and concert hall vibes.
Earlier, my select group had the opportunity to meet up with and discuss the system with Lars Goller, Chief Automotive Sound & Acoustics Advisor, who was effusive in extolling the virtues of the system. He explained in detail how every factor has been accounted for when designing the soundscape – from positioning to resonance – and how Huawei shared his goal for in-car audio tuning to recreate an optimum reproduction of the original recording, to ‘bring us closer to the experience the artist intended.’

Huawei’s most luxurious audio system yet
The HUAWEI SOUND ULTIMATE Series boasts some 43 speakers in an ultra-surround configuration and 2920 W dual amplifiers for powerful, immersive sound. Rear 4D exciters synchronise with music and video, creating a multi-sensory experience, while advanced hardware and algorithms enable seat-specific 4D surround sound.
The system also debuts the unique Crystal Star-Ring Diffuser, which rises automatically from the dashboard when you enter the vehicle and features ambient lighting that moves with the music, delivering 30% greater sound uniformity over the previous generation. The innovative Tangential Force Woofer rotates the door woofer by 90 degrees to reduce resonance and enhance bass, while the patented Dual-Diaphragm Subwoofer uses a unique design to maximise cabin space, producing the deepest and most layered bass in its class.

Unique experience
While I declined the offer of a seat massage in the Maextro S800 (which I later regretted), I can report that the HUAWEI SOUND ULTIMATE Series showcases its advanced technology through an impressive listening performance. The Series also introduces a 4-seat, 4-headrest speaker system which features independent sound zone technology.
Using Huawei’s proprietary sound field control algorithms, the system can create up to 30 dB of isolation between front and rear sound fields, allowing each row of passengers to enjoy distinct audio with minimal interference. Combined with 10 overhead channels, adaptive sound field control, and Huawei’s spatial audio track model, the Series delivers spatial audio with exceptional clarity and precise positioning.
The Huawei Harmony OS-based content ecosystem also offers a premium audio-visual experience, with AI-powered sound-to-light technology synchronising ambient lighting with music, to create a richer, more immersive atmosphere where ‘every note is both heard and seen.’
