Sweden’s Volvo Cars, owned by Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, has launched its locally-assembled EX90 battery-powered flagship SUV in Malaysia, as the brand looks to strengthen its position in the country’s rapidly expanding zero-emissions vehicle market.

Volvo’s local subsidiary, Volvo Car Malaysia, has priced the latest EX90 starting from MYR 428,888 (US$ 105,400), excluding insurance. It is available at authorised Volvo dealers nationwide, alongside smaller battery-powered SUVs including the Volvo EX30, EC40, EX40 and XC40, as well as the ES90 sedan.

The latest EX90, assembled by Volvo Car Manufacturing Malaysia at its plant in Selangor, is based on the SPA2 platform and has an upgraded 800-volt electrical architecture paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Its 106 kWh battery provides a driving range up to 617 km, and can be recharged with a 350 kW DC fast-charging system from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes.

The model features the latest Pilot Assist and Park Pilot Assist, as well as other advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) including a collision-avoidance system, powered by the Nvidia Drive AGX Orin-based computing platform.
