Vietnamese automaker VinFast Auto has announced that it sold a total of 19,503 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in its domestic market in May, a 70% increase on the 11,496 units delivered a year earlier, significantly outperforming the overall market.
The US Nasdaq-listed automaker strengthened its dominance of the Vietnamese market, driven by strong demand for its Green Limo commercial MPV, its best-selling model with 5,108 sales last month, followed by the VF3 with 4,770 units.
In the first five months of the year, VinFast domestic vehicle sales surged by 74% to 97,961 vehicles, up from 56,187 units in the same period last year, with the Green Limo accounting for 24,059 units, followed by the VF3 with 20,231 units. Other key models include the VF5 with 16,803 deliveries, the VF6 with 11,057 units, the VF MPV 7 with 7,923 units, the VF7 with 5,412 units, and the EV Van with 4,071 units.
Earlier this year the company said it aimed to sell 300,000 vehicles globally in 2026, after volumes more than doubled to 196,919 vehicles last year. This included 175,099 domestic sales, accounting for almost one-third of the country’s total vehicle sales last year.
