VinFast Auto announced it has set itself a target of selling 300,000 vehicles globally in 2026, as it continues to push into overseas markets with new models. The Vietnamese battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufacturer saw its global sales more than double to 196,919 vehicles last year, up from 97,399 units in 2024, driven mainly by strong growth in its domestic market.
The company’s sales in Vietnam almost doubled to 175,099 units in 2025, accounting for almost one-third of the 564,000 light vehicles sold in the country last year – helped by the launch of a new range of battery-powered MPVs. The company’s domestic sales rose by a further 55% to 16,172 units in January 2026, but declined by 42% compared with its record 27,649 units in December.
GlobalData is forecasting total light vehicle sales to rise by just 4% to 587,000 units in Vietnam in 2026. With competition also continuing to rise in its domestic market, VinFast is looking for much stronger growth in overseas markets to meet this year’s targets, including Indonesia, India, and the Philippines. Overseas growth is expected to be driven by the introduction of new models such as the Limo Green taxi and VF MPV 7, and continued expansion of distribution networks.
