VinFast offers free charging for three years in Asian markets

Automaker offers a strong incentive for buyers to switch to BEVs.

Vietnamese battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufacturer VinFast Auto has announced that it is extending its offer of free charging to customers in markets in Asia until the end of March 2029, providing a strong alternative to the possible fuel price hikes that may result from the war in the Middle East.

The automaker confirmed that it is offering three years of “zero fuel costs” to customers in its largest overseas markets in Asia, including Indonesia, India, and the Philippines, providing a strong incentive for customers to switch from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to BEVs while “contributing to a sustainable green environment.”

Free charging is available throughout the company’s V-Green network to all of its customers, including existing owners and new buyers. It is available to private customers and operators of commercial transportation services, including drivers operating on the Green SM ride-hailing platform.

VinFast’s parent company, VinGroup, also announced the “Trade Gas for Electric” programme in these three overseas markets, which provides an additional 3% discount on VinFast cars and 5% on VinFast’s electric scooters for customers switching from old gasoline vehicles during the month of March 2026. The discounts are offered in conjunction with other incentive programmes that are already available in each market, “creating favourable conditions for customers to transition more quickly to electric vehicles.”

VinFast’s deputy CEO of Global Sales, Duong Thi Thu Trang, said in a statement: “VinFast’s initial free charging policy received strong support from consumers, both in Vietnam and in international markets where VinFast operates. Extending this policy for another three years is the next step in our strategy to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. VinFast believes that when operating costs are optimized to nearly zero, consumers will have greater confidence and motivation to switch to green mobility, while also contributing to the greening of transportation systems in these countries.”
