The ZF Foxconn chassis modules plant for chassis system assembly in Solihull marked its 20th anniversary today.

The factory primarily supplies Tata Motor's nearby Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) factory and has assembled 10m modules for the company.

The long standing supply deal began in 2001 with the award of JLR contracts for Land Rover Discovery (L319) and Range Rover (L320) chassis modules.

The plant is only six miles away from the JLR assembly plant and has been the sole supplier of front and rear corner modules since 2004.

ZF Foxconn Chassis Modules is now operating Solihull as a stand-alone company alongside 24 other locations worldwide.

Complying with global ZF standards for assembly line configuration, the 4,000 square metre plant houses a mixture of manual and automated assembly stations. The tailor made production process is designed for maximum flexibility to cope with any changes in customer demands. Consistent quality control checks at each successive stage employ 61 cameras and 71 individual inspections.

The just in sequence (JIS) standard ensures a hand-over within a time frame of only six hours after specific order from the OEM customer.

Optimised logistics processes ensure on time collection of the raw materials from the supplier network stretching from the UK to southern Europe.

ZF Foxconn Chassis Modules is a 50-50 joint venture between ZF Friedrichshafen and Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group), founded in 2024. It has 25 locations and 3,500 employees worldwide.
