Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched the all-electric Urban Cruiser Ebella, formally marking its entry into India’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment.
TKM, a joint venture between Japan’s Toyota Motor and India’s Kirloskar Group, said bookings for the model opened on 20 January 2026, while pricing details are yet to be announced.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is the company’s first fully electric SUV developed for the Indian market.
The model is based on the urban SUV concept and built on a dedicated BEV platform, forming part of Toyota’s multipath electrification strategy in India.
The vehicle will be available with two lithium-iron phosphate battery configurations, rated at 49 kWh and 61 kWh.
TKM claims a maximum driving range of up to 543 km on a single charge.
Power output varies between 106 kW and 128 kW depending on the variant, while peak torque is listed at 189 Nm across the range.
Charging options include AC charging, DC fast charging and combined charging system (CCS) Type 2 compatibility.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor chairman, managing director & CEO Masakazu Yoshimura said: “The introduction of All-Electric Urban Cruiser Ebella is a key enabler towards furthering our multi-pathway approach, where our aim is to contribute towards carbon neutrality while leaving no one behind.”
In terms of exterior design, the Urban Cruiser Ebella features Toyota’s hammerhead front styling, 18in alloy wheels and full LED lighting.
Inside, the SUV offers a dual-tone cabin with sliding and reclining rear seats, a panoramic roof and ventilated front seats.
A unified digital cockpit integrates a 10.25in digital instrument cluster with a 10.1in infotainment screen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety systems include seven airbags, a high-tensile body structure, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.
These comprise automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
TKM said the ownership package will include an eight-year battery warranty, Battery-as-a-Service options and an assured buyback programme.
The company also stated that more than 500 BEV-enabled service outlets and over 2,500 BEV-trained technicians will be available to support aftersales service and maintenance.
