The new Toyota Hilux pickup is now available in the UK as a two-seat model, offering 'more versatility and load-carrying capability'.
There are also important tax advantages of the new configuration for UK business users.
Launched earlier this year, the ninth generation of Toyota’s Hilux pickup was presented exclusively in a Double Cab body style, in line with the market’s strong preference.
However, customers in Britain now have the option of a new factory conversion that removes the three-seat bench from the rear section of the cabin and creates a large, flat and secure load area. Measuring 1,290mm wide and 640mm deep, Toyota says it’s suitable for carrying tools and equipment, easily accessed via the Double Cab’s rear doors.
The conversion in no way compromises performance, safety or standard equipment specifications, Toyota says.
In addition to the convenience of extra load space, the conversion brings potential savings in ownership costs for business users. It also enables flat rate benefit-in-kind taxation and a 100 per cent plant and machinery allowance, where applicable - which mean lower tax liabilities for businesses. The standard double cab Hilux with rear seats is taxed as a passenger car by the UK tax authorities.
The new Hilux range includes both a diesel 48V engine and a battery electric system. The BEV version has been designed and engineered to ensure authentic strong performance, with permanent all-wheel drive and the ability to tackle a wide range of off-road conditions, including wading through water up to 700mm deep.
Commercial vehicle on-the-road prices (excluding VAT) are from GBP36,815 for the Diesel 48V and GBP49,356 for the battery electric model, including a GBP5,000 discount funded by the UK Government’s OZEV large electric van grant.
