Tata adds solar to CV plant

Expected to generate 17.2% of annual need

Luke Martin September 06 2023

Tata Motors and Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) have agreed to develop a 12MWp solar project at the former's Pune commercial vehicle manufacturing plant in India.

The project is expected to generate 17.5m units of electricity annually. The company said this would meet 17.2% of the annualised requirement, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 12,400 tonnes/kWh each year.

The project would be certified within six months after the power purchase agreement was signed.

TPREL and Tata Motors previously developed a 16MWp solar power project in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India.
