Japanese automaker Suzuki Motor Corporation announced that its Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki India, has begun production at its second vehicle assembly plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana state. The first model to roll off the production line was the Victoris SUV.

The facility has an annual production capacity of 250,000 vehicles, bringing the automaker’s total production capacity in Kharkhoda to 500,000 units per year. The first plant in Kharkhoda was opened in February 2025.

The new facility in Kharkhoda increases Suzuki’s annual production capacity in India to 2.65 million vehicles, split between four production hubs located in Gurugram, Manesar, Hansalpur, and Kharkhoda.

Within the first half of the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2027, the automaker said it also plans to start operations at its fourth production plant in Hansalpur, which will also have an annual production capacity of 250,000 units, increasing the company’s total capacity in the country to 2.9 million units.

In the last fiscal year (FY25), which ended in March 2026, Suzuki produced 2.34 million vehicles in India, including 448,000 for export –which represents a 35% increase from the previous year as the automaker increased its focus on markets in Africa, Japan, and Europe.

Suzuki said in a statement that it “continues to expand its production capacity in India to meet growing domestic demand, while also strengthening its role as a global export hub, aiming to establish a production system capable of producing 4 million units annually in India in the medium term.”
