Škoda Auto has begun series production of its all-electric Epiq at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Pamplona, Spain, in the first instance of a Škoda vehicle being made in country.
With a starting price of around €26,000 ($30,018), the Epiq is presented as Škoda’s “most affordable” electric vehicle and forms part of Volkswagen Brand Group Core’s Electric Urban Car Family.
The model will be produced in Spain alongside other vehicles in the Urban Car Family, including the Cupra Raval, Volkswagen ID. Polo and Volkswagen ID. Cross.
Earlier this month, Seat & Cupra started producing the Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo at its Martorell plant in Spain, marking the launch of the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car Family project.
According to the company, the production start increases manufacturing synergies within Volkswagen Brand Group Core and allows Škoda Auto to retain capacity at its Czech plants for other high-demand models.
Škoda Auto CEO Klaus Zellmer said: “Launching production of the new Škoda Epiq is a historic moment. With the momentum of Brand Group Core behind it, we are making fully electric driving more reachable than ever – great value for money, designed for real life, and ready to welcome new customers, including those who want something a step above.”
Škoda said the Epiq, alongside the forthcoming Peaq, will help support the planned expansion of its all-electric model range in 2026.
After the current-generation Superb, the Epiq becomes the second vehicle in Škoda’s European line-up to be produced outside the Czech Republic.
The Epiq is also the first Škoda model to use the new MEB+ platform and the first to completely adopt the company’s Modern Solid design language.
Battery and powertrain variants for the vehicle range from 85kW to 155kW, while the maximum driving range is around 440km.
The Volkswagen Navarra plant, near Pamplona in northern Spain, has built more than 10 million vehicles since becoming part of Volkswagen Group in 1984.
The facility employs nearly 5,000 people and makes more than 1,400 vehicles each day.
It currently builds the Volkswagen Taigo and T-Cross and is adding electric vehicles to its production programme. All four models of VW Group’s Electric Urban Car Family (from Cupra, Volkswagen and Škoda) will be produced at plants in Spain.

Strengthening synergies within Volkswagen’s Brand Group Core
The Epiq is part of the new Electric Urban Car Family from Volkswagen’s Brand Group Core. Together with the CUPRA Raval, Volkswagen ID. Polo and Volkswagen ID. Cross, it forms part of a cross-brand product campaign, through which the Group brands are launching models in the electric entry-level segment.
Producing the Škoda Epiq in Spain allows to draw on synergies within the BGC and offer European customers electric vehicles that are highly competitive in terms of both technology and price. This approach also enables Škoda Auto to retain production capacity at its own plants for other high-demand models, while enhancing its flexibility in responding to shifts in demand across vehicle segments.
Volkswagen Navarra plant
The Volkswagen Navarra plant, located on the outskirts of Pamplona in northern Spain, is one of the VW Group’s key production sites. Founded in 1965, it has produced more than ten million vehicles since becoming part of the Volkswagen Group in 1984. Its nearly 5,000 employees build more than 1,400 cars a day.
Until now, the plant has produced Volkswagen models with combustion engines, the Taigo and T-Cross. Its production programme is now being expanded to include the all-electric Škoda Epiq, with another electric model, the Volkswagen ID. Cross, soon to follow. Like Škoda Auto’s plant in Mladá Boleslav, the Navarra site offers a high degree of flexibility, with combustion-engine and all-electric vehicles assembled on the same production line.
Škoda Epiq – an affordable all-electric model
The Škoda Epiq celebrated its world premiere on 19 May in Zurich, Switzerland. With a price tag of around €26,000, it is the brand’s most affordable electric model and the entry point to its electric portfolio. With compact dimensions and a spacious interior, Škoda says the car takes full advantage of the new MEB+ platform and is the first Škoda model to fully incorporate all elements of the Modern Solid design language.
A range of advanced safety and assistance systems is available, including features from higher vehicle classes for even greater safety and comfort. Different traction-battery versions and power variants from 85 to 155 kW give customers a wide selection to suit their needs. It comes with a maximum range of around 440 kilometres on the larger battery. Alongside the upcoming Peaq, Škoda says the Epiq will play a key role in doubling Škoda’s all-electric model range in 2026.
