Renault is to show its Twingo E-Tech electric prototype, which previews the production model, at the Paris Motor Show, which will take place from 14 to 20 October 2024.

The Twingo E-Tech is planned for market launch in 2026. Renault says that with prices starting at less than €20,000, it fulfils its pledge to put electric mobility within ever more people’s reach.

European car manufacturers are coming under considerable competitive pressure from Chinese manufacturers who are targeting the European market for low price-point BEVs.

Although the EU is readying punitive tariffs for Chinese BEV shipments that benefitted from ‘unfair subsidies’, Chinese OEMs are also looking to start assembly operations in Europe and avoid import tariffs on finished vehicles.

Stellantis and Leapmotor have created a JV that is planning to market the T03 budget EV at a price of just €18,900 – with production at a Stellantis plant in Poland planned.
