Nissan’s global sales fall 8% in June

Higher domestic sales were more than offset by weak overseas demand.

Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Company has reported an 8.3% drop in global sales to 240,345 vehicles in June 2026, including models sold under the Nissan and Infiniti brands, with sales in Japan rising by 6.5% to 37,324 units, reflecting strong demand for mini-vehicles, while overseas sales fell by almost 11% to 203,021 units.

In the first six months of the year, Nissan’s global vehicle sales fell by 6.4% to 1,506,052       units, with sales in Japan down by 1.4% to 217,235 units, while overseas sales declined by 7.5% to 1,288,817 units. Sales in China fell by 15% to 237,458 units year-to-date, while sales in North America fell by just over 1% to 670,075 units, with sales in the US slightly higher at 489,809 units, while sales in Canada dropped by almost 14% to 51,921 units, and sales in Mexico volumes fell slightly to 127,733 units. Deliveries in Europe declined by over 12% to 164,514 units, while combined volumes in other markets declined by 12.4% to 216,770 units.

Nissan’s global vehicle production fell by 7% to 1,320,698 units in the six-month period, excluding vehicles produced this year by its former joint venture, Renault Nissan Automotive India, with output in Japan falling by 1.2% to 288,212 units, while overseas volumes declined by 8.3% to 1,032,486 units. Output in the US surged by 24% to 303,677 units in this period, while production in Mexico plunged by 26% to 253,572 units, as the company continued to shift production to the US in response to the Trump administration’s trade policies. Production in China fell by 16% to 224,070 units, while output in the UK increased slightly to 133,605 units. Production in other countries combined fell by over 15% to 117,562 units.

Exports from Japan rose by almost 7% to 169,388 units year-to-date, with shipments to North America surging by over 22% to 80,305 units, while exports to other markets combined fell by 4.3% to 89,083 units.
