Nissan Motor has announced that it has launched the all-new Gravite 7-seater compact MPV in India, produced locally at Alliance partner Renault’s plant in Chennai. The Japanese automaker said Gravite marks the beginning of a new chapter in India that reflects the company’s commitment to delivering vehicles tailored to the diverse needs of local customers.

The Gravite is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine with a maximum power output of 72 PS at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm of torque at 3400-3600 rpm. It comes with a choice of a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed EZ-shift automated manual transmission (AMT).

The new family MPV features a 20 cm infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity combined with an 18 cm digital multi-functional cluster, automatic locking doors and front and rear parking sensors. It also comes with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Brake Assist System (BAS) and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).

The Gravite was launched with introductory prices starting at INR 565,000 (US$ 6,230).

Nissan said the Gravite “builds off the momentum of the new Nissan Magnite, which is exported from India to several overseas markets,” adding that it will join an expanding model lineup that will include the Tekton C-segment SUV, which is scheduled to be launched in mid-2026, and a 7-seater C-segment SUV scheduled for launch in early 2027.

Thierry Sabbagh, in charge of Nissan’s Indian, Middle East and Central Asian operations, said in a statement: “India is central to Nissan’s global ambitions. Our actions over the past year — strengthening operations, expanding the network and embarking on a product offensive — demonstrate our long-term commitment to this market. The all-new Nissan Gravite is not just a product launch; it marks the beginning of a sustained growth phase for Nissan in India. With local manufacturing at our Alliance partner in Chennai and a future-ready product roadmap, we are here to compete, grow and lead in the segments that matter.”
