Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has reported a 6.2% year-on-year rise in global production to 63,031 vehicles in August 2026, after declining by 11% to 59,372 units in the same month last year. Production in Japan surged by almost 18% to 30,161 units, while overseas production fell by 2.6% to 32,870 units.
Sales in Japan, including vehicles imported from overseas, increased by 0.6% to 8,147 units in August, while exports from Japan fell by almost 9% to 14,662 units.
In the first eight months of the year, Mitsubishi’s global production increased by 3.2% to 594,773 vehicles, after having declined by almost 7% to 576,359 units a year earlier. Domestic output increased by 3.9% to 317,805 units in this period, while overseas production rose by 2.4% to 276,968 units. Sales in Japan increased by 7.6% to 86,002 units, while exports increased by 2.3% to 145,569 units.
