M-B car sales rise in first half

YTD sales in the rest of world were 18% lower due to the March 2022 withdrawal from Russia

Mercedes-Benz Cars sales rose 6% year on year to 515,700 units in the second quarter of 2023, and by 5% to 1,019,200 units in the first half.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales rose 123% (but quarter on quarter) to 56,300 units.

H1 BEV rise was 121% to 102,600 and they now account for 11% of sales year to date (YTD).

Including PHEVs, sales of electrified vehicles rose 36% to 187,600 or 18% of H1 volume.

Europe sales were up 5% to 157,100 units in Q2 and 7% to 321,000 in the first half.

Asia sales increased 10% to 239,200 units in the second quarter and 7% to 486,900 in the first half.

Sales in the US grew 6% to 88,100 units in Q2, H1 data was not supplied.

But the automaker said YTD sales in the rest of world were 18% lower due to the March 2022 withdrawal from Russia.

But Turkey sales increased 21% to 6,100 units in Q2 after the introduction of direct sales.
