Isuzu Motors Limited (Isuzu) has become a new signatory to an agreement previously reached by Hiratsuka City and four other parties to collaborate on digital transformation (DX) in regional public transportation.

The agreement focuses on autonomous-driving services in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa, Japan.

It was  originally signed on April 7, 2023 by Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation, Aisan Technology Co., Ltd., and A-Drive Inc.

Under the terms of this agreement, the six signatories unveiled an autonomous proof of concept (PoC) bus in Hiratsuka City that will take advantage of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's program for supporting projects that improve regional public transportation.

In a statement, Isuzu said: “We look forward demonstrating the commercial potential of this autonomous-driving solution.”
