South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its all-new Avante sedan at the 2026 Busan International Mobility Show, which the company says offers more cabin space and features its latest ‘Pleos Connect’ infotainment system, which also integrates Naver’s AI-based internet services.
Hyundai said that the eighth generation of its popular Avante compact sedan, sold in overseas markets as the Elantra, is the latest step in the company’s transition towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered mobility. When the car goes on sale later this year, it will replace the previous generation model, which was launched six years ago, in 2020. The company said it will begin taking orders for the new model in South Korea in the third quarter of 2026.
The all-new Avante’s exterior design is based on the automaker’s ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy, with sharp lines and robust surfaces, while its wider stance gives it a sporty, road-stable appearance.
The new Avante is the second model to feature Hyundai’s latest generation Pleos Connect infotainment system, following the revised Grandeur sedan, which was also on display in Busan last week, and features Gleo AI, Hyundai’s in-house-developed generative AI-based voice assistant.
The new Avante will be available with two powertrain options, a 2.0L, 149 hp gasoline engine coupled with the company’s intelligent variable transmission, and a 1.6L hybrid-electric system with a combined power output of 57 hp.
Speaking at the show, Hyundai Motor’s CEO, Jose Munoz, said, “The all-new Avante sets a new benchmark in its segment by delivering an exceptional balance of design, interior space, safety, and digital experiences. Hyundai will continue strengthening its competitiveness in software and electrification technologies to provide innovative mobility experiences for customers around the world.”
