Hyundai Motor Group said its sales in the US rose just slightly year-on-year to 154,308 units in November 2025, despite the introduction of a 25% tariff on imports from South Korea earlier this year. The group’s sales were supported by strong demand for SUVs and hybrid-electric models.

The 0.1% sales rise last month included a 2% decline in sales by Hyundai Motor to 82,306 units, including its Genesis brand, while Kia Corporation’s sales increased by 2.7% to 72,002 units.

Sales data released by the two brands showed hybrid sales surged by 49% year-on-year to 36,172 units last month, which offset a 59% decline in battery electric vehicle (BEVs) sales to 4,618 units, following the withdrawal of BEV tax credits by the US government at the end of September.

In the first nine months of the year, the group’s US sales rose 8.1% to 1,673,772 vehicles, with Hyundai's sales rising by 8.7% to 896,620 units while Kia's increased by 7.5% to 777,152 units.

Randy Parker, Hyundai Motor North America’s CEO, said in a statement: “Hyundai's November sales highlighted the strength of our SUV lineup, with Tucson, Santa Fe and the all-new Palisade each posting double-digit growth. Hybrid demand remains strong, and we set a new all-time monthly record for hybrid vehicle sales.”  The company’s best-selling model in the US year-to-date was the Tuscon with 212,037 deliveries, followed by the Elantra sedan with 136,825 units and the Pallisade with 112,237 units.

Kia America’s head of sales, Eric Watson, said: “As consumer demand shifts, Kia's diverse product line-up and growing hybrid portfolio have us on the verge of our third consecutive annual sales record.” The company’s best-selling US model year-to-date was the Sportage SUV with 165,954 deliveries, followed by the K4/Forte sedan range with 126,919 units and the Telluride SUV with 111,123 units.
